HOW DO I BECOME CERTIFIED?

Step 1: You need to take an exam, which is based on the NHLA Certification Manual.

The written and Plant ID portions of the NHCLP Exam are offered on the first Saturday in March and the second Saturday in September. The March exam is held at the Thompson School of Applied Science, UNH, in Durham, NH from 9 am to 1 pm. The September exam is held at Millican's Nursery in Chichester, NH, from 1 pm to 5 pm. Advance registration is required. Please register at least one week in advance of the exam date.

Step 2: Download and Complete the Application and Code of Ethics.
Step 3: Mail your Application, Code of Ethics and exam fee ($100 for NHLA members; $125 for non-members; the fee for taking one part of the exam is $50 for members and $65 for non-members) to:

NHLA Certification Committee
c/o Patty Laughlin
PO Box 253
Epping, NH 03042

If you have questions, please contact the NHLA Certification Coordinator, Patty Laughlin, 603-303-0179, patty@loraxlandscaping.com

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE EXAM?
All the exam questions come directly from the manual so a comprehensive study of the manual is highly recommended. There will be evening review sessions before the exam is held. Please contact Patty Laughlin or check out our website for a review session schedule and registration.

WHERE DO I PURCHASE A MANUAL?
Manuals, as .pdf files on a thumb drive, are included in your certification application fee. If you would like to receive a manual without registering for the exam they can be purchased by sending a check for $25.00, made payable to NHLA to: Patty Laughlin, NHLA Certification Coordinator, Lorax Landscaping, PO Box 253, Epping, NH 03042
